How We Helped CIO Mastermind Climb the SEO Ranks with a Targeted Content Strategy

The Opportunity

CIO Mastermind offers coaching and peer advisory groups for executive technology leaders, CIOs navigating high-stakes decisions, and organizational leadership. While their services were solid, their digital discoverability wasn’t. They had zero active SEO efforts and little keyword visibility on Google.

Most of their target keywords were ranking between positions 90–100+ (basically invisible), and their content lacked structure, strategy, and search relevance. They needed a way to become discoverable, especially for services like Executive Coaching, Fractional CIO, and Peer Advisory Groups.

The Strategy

Our first move was building a strategic SEO foundation. Using tools like SE Ranking and a suite of keyword research platforms, we:

  • Identified national and local keywords with opportunity and intent
  • Developed a content strategy focused on high-priority services
  • Created 5 keyword-optimized blog articles, complete with internal/external links, image alt tags, and structured headers (H1s-H3s)
  • Revised core service pages on the website to align with the new strategy and keyword targets

We also remained flexible when CIO Mastermind adjusted service priorities mid-project, retiring their Fractional CIO offer and putting more weight on Executive Coaching and Peer Groups. This required agile keyword pivots and edits to our content strategy in real time.

The Results

  • +10 average position lift across tracked keywords
  • Brand-new visibility for terms like “Executive Peer Groups,” which previously didn’t rank at all
  • Their Executive Coaching service page became the top non-sponsored result in search
  • The client reported improved traffic and lead quality
  • SEO foundation now in place for continued growth

Although the client didn’t retain us for ongoing SEO content, we made sure to leave behind actionable recommendations and keyword data so their internal team or future partners could pick up where we left off.
